We're a group of students from Drexel University working on our Engineering 103 project. Under the supervision of Dr. Swoboda, John Alamia, and Caesar, we are working on a device that will be able to detect a sudden change in acceleration and then deploy an inflatable bladder. There are many different uses for such a device. For example it can help big wave surfers when they crash. Under the force of 80-100 foot waves, these surfers are underwater for upwards of 10 minutes. In these conditions the human body is servery damaged. But what if there was a way to bring up these surfers up faster? That's what we're working on.
